Mo Salah has been added back to the matchday squad by Arne Slot ahead of what could be his last game for Liverpool against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Egyptian winger was left out completely during Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League victory over Inter Milan after expressing his frustrations over the weekend.
After not playing in the 3-3 draw with Leeds United, the 33-year-old stated he was “very, very disappointed” to be benched for a third consecutive match. He mentioned feeling like a scapegoat for the team’s struggles and hinted that there might be individuals at the club who no longer want him and that his relationship with the manager is poor.
Slot had an important meeting with Salah on Friday, which led to his return to the substitutes’ bench before he departs to join the Egypt national team for AFCON next week.
There are ongoing rumors that the former Chelsea player might leave the club in the January transfer window, with interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League. If he does move, today’s match against Brighton could be his last for Liverpool, should he come off the bench.
Dominik Szoboszlai is set to play on the right wing for Liverpool, while Alexander Isak is on the bench, and Hugo Ekitike will start up front.
