José Mourinho has parted ways with Fenerbahce just a year after his appointment. The club confirmed the decision on August 29, following a loss to Benfica in the Champions League qualifiers that ended their hopes of advancing.

Reports indicate that tensions escalated between Mourinho and the club’s management. He faced criticism for favoring certain players, particularly Ismail Yüksek and Can Kahveci, who frequently did not play.

The management was also unhappy with the team’s performance, and Mourinho’s comments added to the strain. Before the Benfica match, he mentioned, “If the Champions League was truly important to the club, I would have been given the transfers I needed.” His remark about vice-president Hamdi Akin, stating, “I don’t know him,” worsened his relations with the management.
