It appears this will not be happening.
José Mourinho has left Fenerbahçe after they could not qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage. With Al Ahly currently without a head coach, speculation arose about his possible return.
Details: According to Soccer Laduma, Al Ahly is considering different managerial options. The rumors became strong enough that Mourinho was asked about it, and he dismissed them as nonsense.
Additionally, Paulo Bento, who was the coach of the United Arab Emirates national team until March, has been linked to the Al Ahly position. However, he is reportedly not eager to return to coaching right now.
Earlier, Al Ahly thanked Ribeiro and his staff for their hard work, but noted that the results didn’t meet the club’s expectations. Ribeiro’s last game in charge was on Saturday, August 30, when the reigning Egyptian champions lost 0-2 to Pyramids.
Reminder: The official TotalEnergies CAFCL and CAFCC page recently released the ranking of participating clubs ahead of the tournament draw set for August 9, 2025.
