The Ukrainian midfielder faces a tough situation.
Mudryk could return to the field as early as next season.
Details: The Athletic journalist Liam Twomey reports that the maximum penalty for 25-year-old Chelsea and Ukraine winger Mykhailo Mudryk is a four-year ban. However, if found guilty, he may return to play sooner than expected.
Mudryk has already served 16 months of suspension, which will be considered in the final decision. If he is cleared, he can immediately resume his football career.
Chelsea supports Mudryk but recognizes the need to have a backup plan, which might involve pursuing transfers for Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittins.
Mykhailo Mudryk joined Chelsea in 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk for €70 million. Before his suspension, he played 73 matches for Chelsea, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
His contract with Chelsea extends until 2031.
