In a recent interview with AS published on Christmas Day, Rafael Nadal discussed his life after retirement from professional tennis.

When asked about coaching, he was clear about his current feelings.

This was significant, especially after Carlos Alcaraz’s recent departure from Juan Carlos Ferrero, leaving a coaching vacancy.

Nadal stated, “I’ve always respected what might happen in the future because feelings can change over time.

“Life is always evolving, especially with young children; your perspective shifts as time passes.”

“Constant travel? I don’t see that happening right now. Coaching would need that, and it doesn’t suit my life currently.”

“Becoming a Davis Cup captain someday? It’s a possibility. I might like it… or not. I just retired; it’s too soon to decide.”

“I respect how life progresses and the necessity to adapt. For now, thinking about coaching isn’t right.”

Why Rafael Nadal was suggested as a coach for Carlos Alcaraz

Nadal’s recent comments have eased speculations about him partnering with Carlos Alcaraz, who is currently without a coach following Ferrero’s exit.

Carlos Santos, Alcaraz’s first coach, may have contributed to these rumors a few days ago. He suggested, “We’re not even considering players like Rafa Nadal, who would be a great coach for Carlitos, given his upbringing, values, character, and humility. That would be beneficial for Carlos and his team.”

However, this idea is currently off the table. Alcaraz is set to continue with Samu Lopez as his head coach.
