SSC Napoli have announced the renewal of their star goalkeeper Alex Meret‘s contract until June 2027.
This puts an end to speculation surrounding the 28-year-old’s future, with previous links to Arsenal and Inter Milan.
“SSC Napoli is pleased to announce the extension of Alex Meret’s contract until 2027, in recognition of his outstanding performances to date,” read a statement on the club’s official website on Friday.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Meret will earn a salary of €2.5 million (around Rp. 47 billion) per season, with possible performance-based bonuses.
The new contract includes an extension option until June 2028, at the club’s discretion.
Since joining Napoli from Udinese in 2018, Meret has become a key player in the Partenopei’s defence.
His consistent performances helped the team to retain their Serie A title in the 2024/25 season under Antonio Conte.
‘We are very happy that Alex has chosen to stay with us. He is an integral part of this team,’ said Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna.
This contract extension also thwarts the hopes of other clubs who were planning to recruit Meret for free, given that his previous contract was due to expire in June 2025.
This new deal ensures stability in the goalkeeping position for the next few seasons.
