As Nashville SC prepares for their match against Chicago Fire on Saturday night, they remain one of two unbeaten teams in MLS with a record of 4 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw, putting them at the top of the Eastern Conference with 13 points.

Despite their strong start, which includes a 13-2 goal difference, Coach B.J. Callaghan believes there is room for improvement. He attributes their success to their daily commitment to consistency.

“It may sound boring, but the team shows up ready to work every day,” he stated. “We focus on delivering consistent performances every match.”

Nashville’s consistency is evident on both defense and offense. They have recorded three clean sheets, including a notable 5-0 victory over Orlando City in their last game on March 21. Sam Surridge leads the league with seven goals, ranking the team second in scoring in MLS.

Surridge aims to build on his impressive performance from last season when he scored 24 goals, second only to Lionel Messi.

“I wanted to continue where I left off last season,” he said.

On the other hand, Chicago Fire, with a record of 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw (7 points), looks to maintain momentum after their 2-1 win against Philadelphia on March 21. Jonathan Bamba scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute to equalize the team’s record.

Chicago has excelled in possession, ranking fifth in the league with a 55% possession rate and allowing only five goals. Much of their scoring has come from Hugo Cuypers, who has netted four of the team’s seven goals, including one in stoppage time against Philadelphia.

The team’s defensive performance has improved, especially after conceding 60 goals last season, which was among the worst in the Eastern Conference.

“We’re working on our style of play and pushing to improve daily,” said Fire forward Philip Zinckernagel.
