The legendary German goalkeeper keeps fans’ hopes alive.
Manuel Neuer continues to showcase his world-class goalkeeping skills, despite being 40 years old.
Details: Following Bayern Munich‘s recent victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, a journalist asked Neuer about his prospects for the 2026 World Cup.
Fans hoping for a positive response were disappointed when Neuer confirmed his decision remains unchanged:
“Everything has already been said about this. Right now, the main focus is the rest of the season with Bayern,” he told SkyDE in an interview.
Neuer has clearly stated that he will not return to the German national team and will not participate in the 2026 World Cup. After Euro 2024, he plans to end his international career to make way for a new generation and concentrate on his performance with Bayern.
Neuer debuted for the German national team in 2009 and has since played 124 matches for his country.
Reminder: Bayern ends a 14-year winless streak against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
