Details: Newcastle’s official page on X has announced the appointment of David Hopkinson, a 54-year-old Canadian expert, as the new chief executive officer.
Darren Eales will transfer all responsibilities to Hopkinson tomorrow, after which he will officially take on his new role.
Previously, Hopkinson was the president and chief operating officer at Madison Square Garden Sports, overseeing business operations for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. He also served as the global head of partnerships at Real Madrid, where he contributed to the club’s status as one of the world’s most valuable football organizations.
David Hopkinson shared his thoughts on his new position:
“Having worked with iconic teams across different countries, I understand what it takes to achieve sustainable success at the highest level of global sport.
This club is truly something special, with an extraordinary history and passionate supporters,” he said.
David brings over 25 years of executive and commercial experience in three countries, delivering results for some of the world’s leading sports organizations.
