New York City FC has re-signed veteran midfielder Maxi Moralez for the 2026 MLS season, as announced on Monday.
This will mark Moralez’s 10th season with NYCFC. The 38-year-old Argentine has recorded 29 goals and 85 assists in 217 regular-season games.
Last season, he started all 34 matches, finishing with two goals and 11 assists.
“Maxi had a great season in 2025, showcasing the consistency, creativity, and leadership that he’s known for,” said sporting director Todd Dunivant.
“He continues to make a significant impact in games, and his experience and competitive spirit strengthen our team’s identity.”
Moralez, who was named an MLS All-Star and selected to the Best XI in 2019 for leading the league with 20 assists, helped NYCFC win the MLS Cup in 2021 and the Campeones Cup in 2022.
“I’m thrilled to return to New York City FC for another season,” Moralez stated. “This club feels like home, and I’m eager to contribute to our goals.”
“We know what we can achieve together, and I’m focused on doing everything I can to help us compete for trophies this season.”
NYCFC will kick off the 2026 MLS season with a match against the LA Galaxy on February 22.
