Newcastle United will not continue their interest in James Trafford, due to his salary expectations.
Eddie Howe attempted to sign Trafford from Burnley earlier, but Manchester City’s late interest resulted in Trafford moving to the Etihad.
Newcastle had considered re-engaging with the 23-year-old. They secured Aaron Ramsdale on loan from Southampton after missing out on Trafford, but they are still interested in finding a long-term first-choice goalkeeper.
However, journalist Craig Hope stated that Trafford’s new wage demands after joining Manchester City are preventing a deal.
Instead, Newcastle is exploring options to sign either Alex Remiro from Real Sociedad or Gregor Kobel from Borussia Dortmund.
