Footem.in – Newcastle United has reportedly reached out to Manchester United to inquire about the transfer conditions for Kobbie Mainoo, whose future at Old Trafford is uncertain after not receiving playing time in the first two matches of the Premier League this season.
Mainoo, a young midfielder from England, is facing disappointment as he has yet to be utilized by manager Ruben Amorim. This comes despite Manchester United failing to secure a win since the season began, raising questions about Amorim’s choices.
The player is reportedly frustrated about competing for a spot with established names like Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Manuel Ugarte, who are regularly selected.
For Mainoo, the option to transfer appears increasingly sensible, especially with the upcoming World Cup next summer. Remaining on the bench diminishes his chances of making the England squad. Although he graduated from the Carrington academy, he must consider his future for regular playing opportunities and career growth.
According to journalist Jason Soutar, Newcastle has inquired about Mainoo’s transfer status and confirmed their interest via a post on X.
Mainoo is open to leaving Old Trafford, whether through a permanent move or a loan deal.
The Magpies are navigating a challenging transfer window, despite signing Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga, Malick Thiaw, and Aaron Ramsdale.
However, only one or two of these players are likely to be immediate starters in Eddie Howe’s squad. Therefore, adding Mainoo is seen as a potential boost to Newcastle’s midfield quality.
Sources indicate that Manchester United could demand around £60 million, or approximately Rp1.25 trillion, for Mainoo’s transfer.
This figure might be surprising, considering the initial expectations from United fans who hoped the midfielder would play a significant role under Amorim this season.
