Neymar, a player for Santos, was in a Brazilian Serie A match recently, but only made news for receiving a yellow card. He discussed the situation on his Instagram account.
Neymar shared a photo of his leg with visible marks and blood, saying: “I know you shouldn’t get angry and pick up a yellow card… but this happens often. Even if it’s unintentional, it feels like a red card! It frustrates me that these situations can last for 10 months 😒.”
The yellow card was issued after Thiago Santos fouled Neymar, but Santos only received a warning. This upset Neymar, who kicked the ball away in frustration and was booked by the referee for unsportsmanlike conduct.
In the match, Santos and Fluminense ended with a score of 0-0. Although a goal by Santista Tiquinho Soares was scored in stoppage time, it was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.
