San Jose Earthquakes player Nick Lima has retired from professional soccer after nine seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Lima, 31, scored nine goals and provided 15 assists in 231 MLS matches, with 189 of those being starts. He played for the Quakes from 2017 to 2020 and again in 2025, and also represented Austin FC from 2021 to 2023 and the New England Revolution in 2024.

“I am thankful for the chance to play professional soccer and to retire on my own terms,” Lima stated. “I want to express my gratitude to all my teammates, coaches, staff, fans, and everyone who supported me throughout my journey.”
