Manchester United defender Harry Amass will not be returning to Norwich City for the remainder of the season, disappointing Canaries manager Philippe Clement.

The 19-year-old was loaned out at the start of the season to gain experience in senior matches.

He began with Sheffield Wednesday for the first half of the 2025/26 season before moving to Norwich for the latter half.

Since joining Norwich in January, Amass has appeared only once, playing 15 minutes against Coventry City before sustaining an injury.

He suffered a serious hamstring injury during training, leading to Manchester United recalling him for rehabilitation.

Initially, both clubs agreed he would remain at Norwich, hoping he could return later in the season.

However, on April 4, reports from SunSport indicated that he would stay in Manchester until the season ends.

Norwich’s manager, Clement, expressed his frustration regarding the situation. Ahead of a match against Millwall, he confirmed Amass would not be returning.

“We wanted things to be different with Harry [Amass], but Manchester United owns the player and decided not to send him here for rehab,” he said. “We wish it had been a different situation. They have chosen to keep him until the season ends,” Clement remarked, according to BBC Sport.

The Norwich supporters, currently in 11th place, will likely be disappointed by the news, especially considering Amass’ potential.

As of now, the 19-year-old has played seven times for Manchester United’s first team and aims to establish himself in the squad.
