Nottingham Forest Set to Sign John Victor as They Eye Win Against West Ham

Footem.inNottingham Forest is officially pursuing Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, currently engaging in talks to bring him on board. This move could disrupt West Ham’s previously close transfer negotiations.

Forest Leverages Relationship with Botafogo

Botafogo has given the green light to sell 29-year-old John Victor in the closing days of the summer transfer window after months of speculation.

West Ham had made a £10 million offer (approximately Rp211 billion) on August 1, following Victor’s impressive performances in the Club World Cup, which attracted interest from several Premier League teams.

However, Nottingham Forest is now acting swiftly, taking advantage of their good relationship with Botafogo, which recently sold Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha to City Ground. Meanwhile, the transfer to West Ham has stalled as the East London club opts to focus on goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

With a release clause in his contract, Victor is almost certain to leave before the transfer window closes, placing Forest in a prime position to secure his services, despite interest from Aston Villa, Wolves, Burnley, and even Manchester United.

Nuno’s Ambition to Strengthen Nottingham

As they prepare for participation in the Europa League, Nuno Espirito Santo aims to bolster squad depth with two players in each position. The addition of Victor would provide a crucial option in the goalkeeper department, which has been under scrutiny.

However, amid these transfer ambitions, questions remain about the coach’s future. On August 29, it was revealed that Forest is engaged in significant discussions with Nuno regarding his future following his public comments about club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Nuno and the Shadow of Dismissal

The escalating tensions have put Nuno’s position under scrutiny. Internal sources indicate that management is considering the possibility of dismissal if issues persist.

Industry analyst Mick Brown emphasized on August 26 that behind-the-scenes divisions could trigger the end of Nuno’s tenure at City Ground, although all parties are reportedly still seeking a peaceful resolution.
