Tottenham Hotspur will visit the City Ground on Sunday afternoon, aiming for their third consecutive win in all competitions under Thomas Frank.
They will face a Nottingham Forest team eager to recover from a tough loss. Spurs enter the match with boosted morale after winning against Brentford and Slavia Prague, lifting the clouds that hung over them in November.
Nottingham Forest currently sits 17th in the league, just two points above the relegation zone. The team is still reeling from a 3-0 loss to Everton last week. However, the City Ground has not been a friendly place for Spurs in recent times. After suffering six straight Premier League losses to Forest from 1998 to 2024, Forest managed to defeat them twice last season.
Sean Dyche is concerned about the fitness of goalkeeper Matz Sels. He missed the Europa League match against Utrecht due to a groin problem and is uncertain for this game. If he cannot play, Carlos Miguel may step in. The team will also be without captain Ryan Yates, who is out for an extended period due to a thigh injury. Ola Aina, Chris Wood, and Angus Gunn are also unavailable, but Taiwo Awoniyi might return to the squad.
Thomas Frank expects Brennan Johnson to be fit to play against his old team. Johnson missed the midweek Champions League victory over Slavia Prague but has resumed training. Still, Spurs will be without several key players: Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie are all out, and Yves Bissouma is unavailable due to disciplinary and injury issues.
Forest has struggled to score this season, failing to find the net in eight Premier League matches, second only to Wolves in that regard. Yet, when they do score, they have been unbeatable in their last 11 league games. Midfield creativity, particularly from Elliot Anderson, will be crucial for their performance.
Spurs have been effective on the road, securing four away wins and gathering 14 points. They are the only team to have scored in every away match this season, showing a strong attack with the highest overperformance between goals scored and expected goals. Richarlison has been a key player, leading the team with eight goal contributions this season.
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Milenković, Murillo, Williams; Sangaré, Anderson; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Ndoye; Jesus
Tottenham Hotspur predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Gray; Kudus, Simons, Kolo Muani; Richarlison
The match will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event, with coverage starting at 1:00 pm GMT.
