Nottingham Forest has faced many challenges this season, including frequent changes in management. Nuno Espirito Santo was replaced by Ange Postecoglou, who was then succeeded by Sean Dyche. Dyche has brought some stability, but there are still key areas that need improvement. According to The Athletic, Mehdi Taremi is the striker that Nottingham Forest is most interested in.

Mehdi Taremi Emerges as Nottingham Forest’s Top Target

Under Dyche, Forest has started to find some steadiness after earlier managerial instability.

The team’s recent victory against West Ham was significant for Nottingham Forest. They were eliminated from the FA Cup by Wrexham in a penalty shootout, but their main focus will be on staying in the Premier League for the rest of the season. A tough loss to Manchester City and a strong win against Spurs gave Forest a much-needed morale boost.

Last season, Chris Wood had a standout performance for Forest, scoring 20 goals. However, a knee injury has kept him out this season, leading to a lack of goals. The Athletic reports that the club has created a shortlist of strikers. While Taremi is their main target, they are also looking at Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Youssef En-Nesyri, a 28-year-old Moroccan international currently with Fenerbache. They are also tracking Artem Dovbyk, a 28-year-old Ukrainian international, but he is currently injured.

Nottingham Forest’s Options in Attack

It remains uncertain whether Forest will secure Taremi or another option from their list, but it is crucial to ease the pressure on Igor Jesus, who has played in the last seven matches across all competitions.

The only other fit striker available is Taiwo Awoniyi, especially after Arnaud Kalimuendo’s loan move to Frankfurt, where he could potentially make the transfer permanent. Despite joining from Rennes with a strong goal record, he was unable to make an impact at Forest, making his exit less surprising.

Taremi is an experienced player with a solid history in Portugal at clubs like Rio Ave and FC Porto. He excels as a target man and has a reputation for scoring goals. Although he didn’t thrive at Inter Milan, his current performance with Olympiacos, owned by Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis, shows he remains a capable scorer and would be a valuable asset for Dyche.
