This Friday morning, French media did not hold back on Nice, who stumbled again in the Europa League. Given their performance this season and the considerable tensions surrounding the team, it was no surprise. The club has now set a record by suffering their sixth consecutive defeat, losing to Braga 1-0 last night. With two matches remaining, Nice is already eliminated from the Europa League, sitting at the bottom of the table with no points in this competition this season.

Despite the setback, coach Franck Haise discussed the defeat in a press conference. “We know why this losing streak continues. We need to perform for two halves like we did in the second half. We don’t have enough strength to give our all. When we do in the second half, it’s a different match. We must be able to score when we have chances. Losing matches isn’t pleasant for anyone. Losing eight in a row is unbearable. After acknowledging this, we need to focus on what to do next. What troubles me most is that I want to see my team play like they did in the second half,” he stated. However, the French press is tired of this version of Nice, which is reflected in reports from Nice-Matin.

Nice in Trouble

Defeated by Braga in the Europa League, OGC Nice faces the worst losing streak in the club’s history. “On Thursday, December 11, OGC Nice faced their sixth defeat in the 2025-2026 Europa League campaign, losing 1-0 to Braga at Allianz Riviera,” reported France Bleu Azur, noting that unlike their previous matches in the competition, they managed to avoid conceding a goal in the first five minutes. The goal from Pau Victor came in the 28th minute.

“At least the Aiglons are making memories. While they may not be turning things around or stopping the bleeding, OGC Nice managed to break three records in one night and enter the history books. Years from now, when reminiscing by the fire, we will recall this team that etched its name in history, albeit through a less flattering route. Their eighth straight loss against Braga marks the first time in the club’s 121-year history, while also extending their winless streak in Europe to 18 matches, the longest for any French team. All this took place before a dismal crowd of fewer than 4,000 fans, who hardly dared to boo as they left the stadium,” the report continued.

Continuing Downward Spiral

“L’Équipe” echoed similar sentiments. “The torment continues for Nice, who faced Braga at home in the Europa League. The only records the team seems capable of setting are the unwanted ones, as their dreadful streak extended with this latest defeat. With the stands empty at Allianz Riviera, they faced their sixth consecutive defeat in the league phase and their eighth in a row across all competitions. Given their disastrous season last year, they now hold the record for the most consecutive matches without a European victory, stretching to ten,” the outlet reported. Le Figaro shared the same gloom, stating, “Nice remains at the bottom of the Europa League table and has yet to earn a single point.”

Le Parisien also lamented the situation. “With 8 consecutive losses and 0 points in the Europa League, the decline continues for Nice… This loss against Braga leaves them with their heads hung low and still no points in Europe. It’s a catastrophic performance, and even the next two matches will likely not salvage the situation. The overall record is disappointing, marking a troubling end to 2025 as they prepare to face Lens on Sunday at 5:15 PM.”
