L’OM Aims to Secure Matt O’Riley’s Permanent Transfer This Winter!

At the end of the transfer market, clubs often fear panic buying. After struggling to finalize their rosters, some teams make last-minute signings to bolster their squads. A few months later, some of these players may be labeled as panic buys. In the last two days of the summer transfer window, OM secured Matt O’Riley, Arthur Vermeeren, Nayef Aguerd, Emerson, and Benjamin Pavard. Currently, none of these five players can be considered a recruitment error. In fact, some of them may even be viewed as excellent additions.

O’Riley, in particular, stands out. Arriving as a relatively unknown player on loan from Brighton to fill the gap left by Adrien Rabiot’s swift departure to AC Milan, the 25-year-old quickly won over the Marseille fans. Known for his endurance, tenacity, and technical skills, O’Riley has become a crucial part of Roberto De Zerbi’s game plan, consistently starting matches. His impressive performances against PSG and Real Madrid at the beginning of the season have thrilled the fans.

OM Looks to Secure Matt O’Riley’s Future

A fan favorite, O’Riley expressed his happiness about joining Marseille, stating in a press conference: “I knew Marseille would be a great experience for me. The club has many passionate supporters and plays a style of football that suits me perfectly. Moreover, I have a coach who trusts me, which is a significant advantage as a player.” Naturally, questions about his future at the Vélodrome arose quickly. Since he joined on loan without a purchase option, his long-term stay in Marseille was uncertain.

As a result, Marseille is eager to act quickly, according to recent reports from Sky Sports. The team is aware of the growing interest in the 25-year-old across Europe. To prevent losing such a talent, the Marseille management is considering making a permanent offer as early as this winter. They plan to begin discussions with Brighton soon to avoid competition for O’Riley next winter. Meanwhile, Marseille will have to focus on their Champions League match against Newcastle later tonight.
