OM Rejects Major Offers for Rising Star Robinio Vaz

At just 18 years old, Robinio Vaz is making significant strides at Marseille, a feat not often achieved by young players there. The forward is showcasing that players developed in the academy can earn their place in the first team. His impressive start to the season reinforces this, despite joining from Sochaux in August 2024 after his training period.

After limited appearances last season, the Mantes-la-Jolie native has fully integrated into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. He has already played 13 matches across all competitions, contributing 4 goals and 2 assists. Starting the summer as the fourth option behind Maupay, he has moved ahead of the former Nice player and has especially taken advantage of Amine Gouiri’s injury to compete with Pierre-Emerik Aubameyang, even starting some matches in a key role.

Offers Exceeding Nasri’s Sale

The idea of playing him alongside others is now a reality, and Marseille is counting more than ever on its young star. Reports suggest a long-term contract extension is on the horizon, potentially occurring before the end of 2025, just months after signing his first professional contract through to 2028 last April. The relationship between the club management and Vaz’s representatives is strong, and both parties wish to maintain this positive rapport.

The club is also acutely aware of Vaz’s rising value in the market. This summer, they turned down substantial transfer offers for him. Had those offers been accepted, Vaz would have become the most expensive player developed by the club, surpassing Samir Nasri’s €16 million transfer to Arsenal in 2008. Once this contract situation is resolved, Vaz can consider his international options, with interest from Senegal and a call-up to the France U19 team.
