Owen’s Bold Statement on the Premier League’s Top Team

The Premier League table often reflects reality, but Michael Owen has a different opinion.

Owen recently claimed that he sees Liverpool as the best team in the league, a statement that may surprise many. Despite their sixth place in the table and being 19 points behind leaders Arsenal, he believes Liverpool stands out as the strongest team.

Although Arne Slot’s team won the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season, they have struggled this year. The Reds suffered their 13th defeat of the season in a Champions League match against Galatasaray midweek.

When discussing the top teams, Owen expressed that Liverpool’s peak performance surpasses that of other Premier League teams.

“Personally, I think they’re [Liverpool] the best team in the Premier League,” Owen remarked. “People may laugh, but they dominated last season; they’re just not in form right now. If every team were to perform at their best, I believe Liverpool would come out on top.”
