The Villarreal midfielder emphasized the spiritual significance of such a move. When asked if he envisions joining the Saudi Pro League, he responded clearly.
“Why not? It’s a possibility. I’m a Muslim, so that influences my decision. In Saudi Arabia, I can practice my religion more freely than anywhere else. I’ve made several pilgrimages to Mecca, starting when I was at Marseille. I told my friend with me at the time, ‘Imagine being in that environment and just playing football, not just for huge amounts of money.’
