A week after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Real Madrid, the Paris FC women’s team gained confidence by defeating Benfica 2-0 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday evening. The game changed when Moller was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Scott, leaving Benfica with ten players by the 30th minute.
Mendy opened the scoring just thirteen minutes later, finishing a cross from Le Moguédec with a left-footed shot in the 43rd minute. Benfica had some chances to equalize, including a half-volley from Cameirao that hit the crossbar (47th minute). Maëlle Garbino sealed the win by finishing another assist from Le Moguédec in the 62nd minute. She came close to scoring again later. With this first victory in the Champions League this season, Paris FC temporarily climbs to 10th place, while Benfica sits at 15th out of 18.
