Patrice Evra, widely recognized for his time at Manchester United, has played for various clubs throughout his career.
During his eight years at United, he was part of the final seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
From 2006 to 2014, Evra was instrumental in winning five Premier League titles, a Champions League, a FIFA Club World Cup, and seven domestic trophies, featuring in 379 matches across all competitions.
Even after leaving Old Trafford 12 years ago, Evra recently returned to support his former club by opening a new pitch in a remote community.
According to BBC Sport, Evra represented United alongside DHL to inaugurate a professional-grade, all-weather football pitch.
This pitch is located in Mae Suek, Thailand, where about 11,577 residents live in 11 villages, with a 140 km round trip to the nearest major city, Chiang Mai.
The nearest usable football pitch is two and a half hours away due to challenging weather that makes local fields unplayable.
As part of the “Delivering Dreams” campaign launched earlier this month, Evra assisted DHL and United in making football accessible to some of the world’s most isolated communities.
Reflecting on the occasion, Evra said, “Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces as they played on this beautiful pitch for the first time is a moment I will never forget.”
He added, “At their age, I didn’t have the chance to play on such a pitch. It’s an amazing campaign and an honor to be the first to play on this pitch with those kids.”
This initiative highlights United’s ongoing effort to expand their influence in Asia, following a post-season tour that included matches against the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia and the Hong Kong national side.
