The president of the Confederation of African Football will meet with Senegalese officials during his upcoming visit.
As previously announced, Patrice Motsepe will visit Dakar on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. His trip aims to address the recent tensions arising from the Caf Appeals Committee’s decision. This ruling, made on March 17, stripped Senegal of the 2025 African Championship title and awarded it to Morocco.
This decision has led to significant controversy and a legal dispute between Senegal and Morocco. The Senegalese Football Federation has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge the ruling, while Morocco is preparing its response. Additionally, 18 Senegalese supporters remain imprisoned in Morocco following incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations final on January 18 in Rabat.
Patrice Motsepe’s visit is intended to help resolve the ongoing crisis between the two nations.
