Paul Merson shares prediction for Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham

Tottenham will be without captain Cristian Romero and playmaker Xavi Simons due to suspensions from their recent match against Liverpool. Additionally, key players Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, and James Maddison are injured, while Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma are on international duty for Senegal and Mali at the African Cup of Nations.

Crystal Palace, on the other hand, has not won in their last four matches. They have suffered defeats to Manchester City and Leeds United in the league and were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Arsenal recently. However, the Eagles have the potential to challenge Tottenham effectively.

Paul Merson has predicted a draw for the upcoming game. He believes that the recent loss to Arsenal would have impacted Crystal Palace, making them appear fatigued from their Europa League commitments. He does not expect Tottenham to secure a win either, predicting a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

“The defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup would have been tough for Crystal Palace. They look worn out; these many matches might have taken a toll. A win could lift them above Manchester United,” Merson said on Sportskeeda.

“Tottenham struggled against Liverpool. I don’t foresee them winning this game. Is it a crucial match for Thomas Frank? Many top managers have faced challenges at Spurs, indicating there’s a deeper issue at the club.”

Tottenham must bring energy to face Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace is always tough to beat at home, presenting a significant challenge for a low-on-confidence Tottenham team. Despite losing three straight matches, the Eagles will fight hard in front of their supportive fans at Selhurst Park.

The onus is on Tottenham to secure a result in this match. They need to manage the game’s pace wisely and match Palace’s physicality throughout. Another lackluster performance like their last away match could put pressure on the coaching staff.
