Paul Scholes, 50, has announced that he is stepping back from his consulting role to focus on his son, Aiden, who has severe autism. In an interview on the podcast Stick To Football, the former Manchester United player shared, “Everything I do now revolves around his routines. He has a strict daily schedule, and I want to be there for him.” Scholes has previously had to balance work commitments, admitting he would arrive at training showing signs of the frustration Aiden experiences, as he struggles to communicate his feelings verbally.
Despite this shift in focus, the former midfielder, known for his outspoken nature, will continue his studio work and his new podcast, The Good, The Bad and The Football, which allows him to remain available for Aiden. “I made this decision due to his special needs. Even though I won’t be doing live matches anymore, I can still work while being there for him,” he added.
