Details: According to RMC Sport, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder Phil Foden, who plays for Manchester City and the England national team, may not participate in the World Cup.
Reports indicate that England’s recent friendlies have left coach Thomas Tuchel feeling frustrated. At a press conference, he expressed that he expected more from Foden. Now, Tuchel is uncertain if Foden can add value to the team at the upcoming World Cup and suggested that another player might be considered instead.
Foden was substituted in the 59th minute of the friendly against Japan, where England lost 0-1.
“He’s not played much for City recently, but he arrived at training camp smiling and impressed everyone,” the England head coach said. However, Foden’s training performance hasn’t turned into match success.
I thought he would surprise us with his passion and energy, but he is having difficulty showing his abilities,” Tuchel noted.
This season, Foden has made 41 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists.
