The Philadelphia Union has signed midfielder Ben Bender to a new contract as of Wednesday.

The former No. 1 draft pick will remain with the team until June 2027, with an option to extend to June 2028.

Bender, 24, has scored seven goals and made seven assists in 58 MLS matches with Charlotte FC (2022-2024) and Philadelphia (2025).

Head coach Bradley Carnell stated, “Ben has been a positive addition and has made important contributions since rejoining the Union last May. He takes advantage of his opportunities, showcasing a high level of competitiveness and a strong work ethic on the field. We believe in his ongoing development and future contributions to the team.”

Last season, Bender played in seven matches (four as a starter) and achieved a career-high 82% pass completion rate over 320 minutes.
