The Philadelphia Union signed 19-year-old defender Finn Sundstrom from D.C. United on Tuesday.

Sundstrom joins the team after transferring from North Carolina FC and is contracted until 2028, with options for 2029 and 2030.

The Union obtained Sundstrom’s rights by giving up their natural first-round pick in the 2028 MLS SuperDraft.

Union coach Bradley Carnell noted, “Finn is a young, versatile defender who fits our playing style. At just 19, he shows the toughness and mentality we value, along with the ability to adapt to different playing styles. We look forward to helping him grow.”

During the 2025 season, Sundstrom led North Carolina FC in blocks with 28 and was second in clearances (111), tackles (38), and attempted passes (1,014). He played 33 matches in total, achieving nine clean sheets.
