With a 2-1 victory over Olympique de Marseille, RC Lens has climbed to second place in Ligue 1, trailing behind PSG. Their strong start to the season (6 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses) is largely attributed to the summer signing of Florian Thauvin. At 32 years old, the 2018 World Cup champion has become a key player for Lens, contributing valuable experience and influence to a revamped squad.
During an appearance on the show Stephen Brunch on RMC, coach Pierre Sage praised Thauvin. “He is a player of the highest caliber. His presence creates a very positive environment for his teammates. He brings the elite mentality that some needed to transform a good season into an exceptional one. He elevates our ambitions, which is crucial for us. Additionally, on a personal level, he is truly outstanding. We have gained so much,” said the former OL coach. Thauvin has scored two goals in nine matches for the Sang et Or.
