Pirates star to share R100 000 with teammate
Oswin Appollis of Orlando Pirates was named man of the match in the Carling Knockout against Siwelele FC, earning a prize of R100,000 for his performance.
Appollis played a key role in the Pirates’ victory in the last 16 of the Carling Knockout. In this tournament, fans select the Man of the Match, and Appollis was the chosen player.
The former youth star of SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town acknowledged that Mbokazi was likely more deserving of the award and should receive part of the prize.
“What a brilliant goal from [Mbekezeli] Mbokazi,” Appollis noted. “Honestly, I think he deserved the Man of the Match today since he was strong in both attack and defense.
