Guido Pizarro quickly addressed questions about André-Pierre Gignac’s absence following Tigres’ 0-0 draw with Chivas in Guadalajara. The Argentine coach confirmed that there are no internal issues and stated that Gignac missed the game due to physical reasons.
“Gignac had a knee injury recently and was recovering from another injury he had previously. We hope to have him back soon,” Pizarro told reporters. He emphasized the veteran’s significance to the team: “He is very important for us, both on and off the pitch,” but did not provide a specific return date.
The coach also discussed the club’s ongoing transition, indicating that Tigres’ golden era has likely ended. “Very few players from that era remain. We have many new players in this period of change, and we are building a new team to keep competing and striving for success,” he mentioned.
After securing a point against Chivas, Tigres will play again on Saturday, September 20, against Pumas in a key match of the Apertura 2025, as they continue their quest for the Liguilla.
