The January transfer window will close in a week, and several transfers are still on the table. Here are five Premier League players who might change clubs this month.
Jean-Philippe Mateta
Jean-Philippe Mateta has expressed his wish to leave Crystal Palace this month. Juventus is interested in the French forward, while Aston Villa has also made inquiries, but they may be focusing on Tammy Abraham instead.
With 18 months left on his contract at Palace, the club might consider selling now if they can find a replacement.
The 28-year-old has scored 38 league goals over the last two and a half seasons, gaining international attention.
Mateta could be part of a larger shift at Palace, with Marc Guehi already sold and Oliver Glasner likely to exit in the summer.
Jorgen Strand Larsen
Jorgen Strand Larsen is being considered as a potential replacement for Mateta. The Norwegian forward has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, especially since Wolves are facing relegation. Wolves are currently 17 points from safety and might sell Strand Larsen to fund a rebuild.
He scored 14 goals last season, but finding the net has become harder this year amid Wolves’ struggles. Leeds had a £33m offer turned down, as Wolves are asking for around £40m.
Oscar Bobb
Fulham is negotiating with Manchester City for a £35m deal to sign Oscar Bobb. The Norwegian forward is expected to leave City after the club acquired Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
A broken leg hindered Bobb’s progress last year, and he has not been able to get back into Guardiola’s plans. He needs more playing time for his growth.
Joshua Zirkzee
Manchester United has been doing well, but Joshua Zirkzee has found himself on the sidelines. He was not included in the squad for recent wins, and this season has seen him start only four games, scoring five goals in 18 months at Old Trafford.
United’s recent spending on strikers has pushed him out of the picture, but several clubs, including AS Roma, are interested in providing him with an opportunity.
Lucas Paqueta
Flamengo is making strong efforts to bring Lucas Paqueta back to Brazil. After an initial offer was rejected, they have presented a new bid of €41m (£35.5m) to West Ham.
West Ham is hesitant to let Paqueta go as they fight against relegation; however, after winning two consecutive league matches without him, they might agree to a sale to fund further signings.
The club is also looking to sign a centre-back before the transfer deadline.
