Liverpool won the Merseyside derby after beating Everton 1-0 at Anfield. The result further solidifies the Reds’ position at the top of the table.
Liverpool initially struggled to break down Everton’s defence. Mohamed Salah and his teammates repeatedly fired shots wide of the target.
Liverpool finally got on the scoresheet in the 57th minute. Diogo Jota got his name on the scoresheet.
The goal began with a fine individual move by Jota. The striker then broke through the Everton defence before unleashing a shot that was tipped over by Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The win sees Liverpool move further clear of Arsenal in second place. The two teams are now separated by 12 points.
In another match, Manchester City returned to winning ways as they silenced Leicester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City took the lead after just two minutes. Jack Grealish’s through ball from the right found the back of the net.
Omar Marmoush put Manchester City 2-0 up in the 29th minute, the striker capitalising on a mistake by Leicester’s goalkeeper.
The three points moved Manchester City up to fourth in the table with 51 points from 30 games. The Citizens’ hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League remain alive.
