Two Premier League clubs are competing to sign Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea during the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has played only four times off the bench in the Premier League this season and is looking for more playing time elsewhere.
Chelsea has wanted to loan out the winger since summer. A £22 million deal with Fulham was not finalized on Deadline Day.
Premier League teams vie for Chelsea young talent Tyrique George
According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton is currently ahead in the race to sign George after submitting a loan offer with an option to buy. They are seeking a wide attacker after Jack Grealish was injured for the rest of the season.
“Talks are ongoing” between Everton and Chelsea, as several clubs are interested in the young player.
Sky Sports News mentions that Sunderland is among the clubs “showing interest” in George, with teams from Spain, France, and Italy also keen to sign him.
After Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, Everton manager David Moyes did not comment directly on the club’s interest in George but mentioned the possibility of a late signing before the transfer window closes on Monday.
“Yes, I do [think there’s a chance],” he said. “But don’t put a big headline saying he thinks it’s coming because it might not and then we disappoint people.
“We’re usually better keeping things under wraps, rather than saying yes.”
