Arsenal‘s transfer activities in January are expected to be limited, but they may see financial gains from a past deal.
The club has shown interest in Marc Guehi, but overall, no significant transfers are anticipated this month.
Andrea Berta is keeping an eye on the market and is ready to act if a good opportunity arises, whether it’s acquiring a player or selling one.
Currently, Berta is in charge, but a deal made by former sporting director Edu Gaspar could lead to an unexpected financial gain for Arsenal.

Nuno Tavares may not have left a positive impression on many Arsenal fans.
The left-back struggled to find his place at the Emirates. After a loan to Lazio under Edu, he made a permanent move there in the summer of 2025, coinciding with Andrea Berta’s arrival.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, quoting the Besiktas president, Tavares is expected to transfer to the Turkish club for around £15m. Since Arsenal included a 35% sell-on clause when he left for Lazio, they stand to gain a considerable amount from this transfer.
Berta’s responsibilities involve enhancing Arsenal’s sales strategies and attracting new talent, and such deals demonstrate the club’s aim to build sustainable income over time.
Nuno Tavares’ journey since leaving Arsenal
Recently, Tavares has caused frustration for supporters and is often regarded as one of the less successful signings by the club.
The Portuguese left-back has yet to secure a consistent spot in any team and is now seeking a permanent move that could bring stability.
Since leaving Arsenal, he has played regularly but has not been very consistent.
His best form was with Marseille, where he netted six goals in 39 appearances. However, his loan at Nottingham Forest the following season was not as successful.
In the past year, he has made 40 appearances for Lazio, setting the stage for his potential transfer to Turkey.
Arsenal originally paid £7m for him and is now set to regain another £5m just a year after his departure, indicating a favorable outcome from the deal.
