Manchester United are ready to meet their fans in Southeast Asia again, this time in a friendly match against the ASEAN All-Stars. The match will take place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday 28 May.
It is part of the Red Devils’ pre-season tour under their new manager, Ruben Amorim. Following a disappointing Premier League season, United are looking to gain momentum with a 32-strong squad comprising a number of young stars and big names, including Bruno Fernandes.
The ASEAN All-Stars will be managed by South Korean coach Kim Sang-sik, who successfully led Vietnam to victory in the ASEAN Championship. Several of the best players in Southeast Asia have also been selected, including two Filipino stars: Sandro Reyes and Amani Aguinaldo.
Meanwhile, the ASEAN All-Stars’ front line will be led by Ezequiel Aguero, a Malaysian striker of Argentine descent. The Sri Pahang FC player is expected to pose a real threat to Manchester United’s defence.
Meanwhile, Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes remains a mainstay in Manchester United’s midfield. He has been consistent throughout the 2024/25 season, recently providing a crucial assist for Amad Diallo in the win over Aston Villa in the last Premier League match.
Against the ASEAN All-Stars, Fernandes is expected to orchestrate the attack and control the rhythm of United’s game.
