Prince Owusu, who had an impressive sophomore season in Major League Soccer, has signed a three-year contract extension with CF Montreal, the club announced on Friday.
While the club did not disclose financial details, the extension secures Owusu’s role for the 2026, 2027 (sprint season), and 2027-28 seasons, with options for two additional years.
“Montreal has become a special place for me,” Owusu stated. “I take pride in extending my contract with CF Montreal and appreciate the trust from the club’s Sporting staff. I look forward to continuing this journey with my teammates and am eager to see our supporters again soon at Stade Saputo.”
By the time the 2026 season begins, Owusu will be 29. He joined Toronto FC in August 2023 and scored nine goals in the 2024 season. CF Montreal obtained his rights in January 2025, where he led the team with 13 goals that season.
Owusu ranked 20th in league goal-scoring, though FC Montreal (6-18-10) finished 13th in the Eastern Conference.
“Prince’s contract extension acknowledges the consistency he has brought to the club since joining,” said CF Montreal Managing Director, Recruitment and Sporting Methodology, Luca Saputo. “His achievements on the field mirror the leadership he shows daily to his teammates. We are very pleased he has committed to our project.”
Originally from Wertheim, Germany, Owusu currently represents Ghana internationally. He was called up for the first time and played in friendlies against Japan and South Korea in November 2025.
