With Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and Joao Neves, PSG currently boasts one of the strongest midfields in the world. They have quality backup players like Warren Zaïre-Emery, who is currently filling in at right-back due to Achraf Hakimi’s injury, along with Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-In. The Parisian club has both quality and depth in their squad.

The European champions are not resting on their laurels. They are already planning for the future, particularly in regard to Fabian Ruiz, who is 29 and has a contract running until 2027. “I have always said I’m very happy here. This is my fourth season. I am content. It’s not something I’m worried about, but rather the match tomorrow where we need to secure a victory,” the Spaniard said in a press conference before the Champions League match against Athletic.

Could Freiburg See Its Biggest Sale Ever?

While there is no imminent departure for the European champion of 2024, PSG is looking to strengthen its midfield in the upcoming months. According to Bild, one of the key targets is Johan Manzambi (20), a standout player in the Bundesliga this season. Partially trained at Servette in Geneva, he moved to Freiburg at 17, starting in the U19 team before making his first-team debut. The Swiss international (8 caps, 3 goals) has been pivotal in helping his club secure the 9th position in the league.

His initial performances at the end of last season set the stage, and he has continued impressively this summer, now a crucial starter. He has started all 19 matches in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists. The 1.82m tall right-footed player is highly valued by Luis Enrique for his versatility in multiple positions. Under contract until 2030, he is unlikely to leave the Breisgau-Brasilianer this winter, but a transfer is considered for the next summer window. The club’s current record sale (25 million euros for Kevin Schade to Brentford) could soon be surpassed.
