PSG will play Brazilian champions Flamengo in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday.
Both teams are aiming for a prestigious title that pairs Europe’s elite against South America’s top team in 2025.
Paris Saint-Germain’s coach Luis Enrique is dealing with some injury issues before the final. Captain Marquinhos is out with a hip injury, and right-back Achraf Hakimi will also miss the match due to an ankle sprain from earlier in December.
Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé has returned to training after a viral illness but his playing time is uncertain due to past injuries affecting his match fitness this season.
Enrique has recently used substitutes Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Ligue 1 games and has rested Joao Neves, who are all likely to play in the final.
Flamengo’s coach Filipe Luís announced that the entire squad is fit for selection, with no significant injuries. Allan was missing from the team traveling to Qatar, but the rest of the squad is intact. They have had a busy 2025 season with 77 matches played across different competitions.
Flamengo arrives in Doha following successful campaigns, winning both the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão. They aim for their first Intercontinental Cup since 1981 when they defeated Liverpool.
Currently positioned second in Ligue 1, PSG is just one point behind leaders Lens. They recently achieved a 3-2 victory over Metz, the league’s bottom team.
Over their last five matches across all competitions, PSG has scored 13 goals but has also failed to find the net on two occasions, once against Monaco in Ligue 1 and again against Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League.
Under Filipe Luís, Flamengo finished as champions of the 2025 Brasileirão with impressive statistics: 23 wins, 10 draws, and 5 losses in 38 matches, scoring 78 goals while conceding just 27, giving them the best defensive record in the league. Uruguayan midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta was the team’s top scorer with 18 goals, finishing second in the Golden Boot race.
Flamengo also secured the Copa Libertadores trophy this year, defeating all opponents to claim the South American title before their Intercontinental Cup final. They won their semifinal match 2-0 against Pyramids FC.
PSG: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Beraldo, Marquinhos, Mendes; Vitinha; Neves, Kang-in; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
Flamengo: Rossi; Varela, Danilo, Pereira, Lucas; Pulgar, Jorginho; Carrascal, de Arrascaeta, Everton; Plata.
The match will be broadcast live on FIFA’s global platforms and available in the UK through FIFA+ as part of FIFA’s deal with DAZN, making Intercontinental Cup games free to view worldwide.
