Ivan Rakitic has stated that Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic is making waves in football following a successful loan at Hamburg.
Vuskovic joined Hamburg last summer for consistent first-team action and has had a remarkable season.
This season, only one player in Europe’s top five leagues has a higher success rate in aerial duels than Vuskovic. He has also scored four goals as a center-back, including an equalizer against Bayern Munich last month.
Rakitic, who has represented Croatia 106 times, believes Vuskovic will attract interest from top clubs across Europe next summer. He encouraged Bayern Munich to pursue the defender, who has left a significant mark this season.
“Everyone in Europe is talking about him right now. FC Bayern should do everything possible to sign him,” Rakitic told Sky Sports Germany.
“I think he needs to join Bayern. He has all the traits to become one of the best center-backs. I’m interested to see if Tottenham can keep him past the summer because he is ready for a top club. In my view, there are only four or five of those in Europe. It’s fantastic to see such a young talent making such an impact.”
Rakitic’s comments follow praise from German football legend Lothar Matthaus, who also highlighted Vuskovic’s impressive performances. He noted the maturity the 18-year-old has demonstrated this season.
“At 18, he plays as if he has already appeared in three World Cups! Even when I was 30, I didn’t have his vision at 18. This player is exceptionally intelligent.”
