The Colorado Rapids have signed forward Dante Sealy from CF Montreal for up to $2.5 million in general allocation money.
Montreal will receive $1.9 million in guaranteed GAM, which includes $1.15 million in 2026 and $750,000 in 2027. They could also earn up to $600,000 based on performance incentives.
Rapids president Padraig Smith expressed excitement about adding Sealy to the team. He noted Sealy’s experience in the league and Europe, along with his goal-scoring ability and athleticism, will enhance the team’s offense.
Sealy, 22, scored nine goals and provided two assists in 30 MLS games (28 starts) during his single season with Montreal in 2025. He ended the season strongly, contributing seven goals and one assist in his final nine matches.
New Rapids coach Matt Wells said he was thrilled to add Sealy, highlighting his skills in one-on-one situations and his left-footed balance in attack. Wells believes Sealy’s abilities will diversify their attacking strategies. He was impressed by Sealy’s ambition and personality during their conversations.
Before joining Montreal, Sealy had two goals and one assist in 38 matches (11 starts) with FC Dallas from 2020 to 2024. He also spent time on loan with PSV Eindhoven’s reserve team in the Netherlands.
