The competition for Antoine Semenyo is intensifying as the January transfer window approaches, with Manchester United currently in the lead.

They are not alone, though, as Manchester City is also showing strong interest.

Both Manchester clubs have reached out to Semenyo to discuss their projects and financial offers in hopes of convincing him to leave Bournemouth next month.

There is a pressing need to finalize these deals for United, City, and now Chelsea, who have also entered the race.

Semenyo has a £65 million release clause, but it is only active for the first 10 days of January.

Bournemouth set this deadline during his new contract negotiations last summer to allow time to find a replacement if he departs.

According to talkSport, Manchester United is also preparing alternative targets in case they cannot secure Semenyo.

One of these options is 19-year-old Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, who has recently joined the Bundesliga squad.

He moved from CD Leganes for £17.5 million last summer and has made 16 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

However, if United cannot sign Antoine Semenyo, they will not immediately pursue Diomande.

Instead, they plan to target the young winger in the summer.

The summer window may also see a significant midfield signing, especially after injuries to Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.

CentreDevils reported that in addition to pursuing Antoine Semenyo in January, United is also looking at midfield options.

Ruben Amorim has cautioned against making hasty purchases, emphasizing the need for signings that can have an immediate impact and long-term value.

Both Antoine Semenyo and Yan Diomande meet these criteria, given their consistent goal contributions at a high level.
