Real Madrid’s Medical Error Led to Kylian Mbappe’s Incorrect Knee Scan
The Athletic reported that Mbappe’s injury was mishandled as the medical team scanned the wrong knee initially.
“Kylian Mbappe’s knee injury was misdiagnosed after Real Madrid medical staff performed an MRI scan on the wrong leg back in December,” The Athletic noted.
The report also stated: “When no issue was detected after scanning his uninjured right knee, the 27-year-old played three games for Madrid before the mistake was discovered.”
This sequence meant Mbappe continued playing with an undetected injury, raising concerns about his health.
This incident underscores how one oversight can significantly affect both recovery and performance.
Kylian Mbappe’s Actual Injury Revealed After Correct Scan
Mbappe’s real injury only became clear after additional tests were done on the correct knee.
“A subsequent scan of his left leg showed a partial posterior knee ligament tear, and on December 31, Madrid released a medical report reflecting that, although they described the injury more broadly as a knee sprain,” the report stated.
“It remains unclear how the initial error happened,” The Athletic concluded.
The revelation confirmed the severity of the issue, explaining the discomfort he faced during games. It also raises questions about how the initial mistake occurred and if it could have been avoided.
For Real Madrid, this situation puts pressure on their medical processes as Mbappe’s recovery is a top priority.
