The Super League project appears to be over.
In 2021, the announcement of a new European Super League created a stir in football. Four years later, the project has not materialized as planned.
Details: Reports from Goal indicate that Real Madrid and its president Florentino Pérez are the only original members still involved. All other clubs have exited.
Pérez was the first president, while Juventus‘ Andrea Agnelli and Manchester United‘s Joel Glazer served as vice presidents. The project was made public on April 18, 2021.
However, by April 20, all English clubs had withdrawn, followed shortly by Italian teams and Atlético Madrid, which led to the collapse of the founding group.
Reminder: Tensions are rising at Real Madrid regarding new head coach Xabi Alonso. Some key players reportedly are dissatisfied with his management style and player rotation.
