After a slow start to the season, Kylian Mbappe has reasserted himself as Real Madrid’s top goal scorer. In the midst of his resurgence, the French star made an interesting confession about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid have enjoyed a remarkably consistent season, suffering just two defeats over the past two months. With Kylian Mbappe leading the charge, the team stands as a strong contender for the LaLiga title. Although the French forward faced some early challenges adapting to his new environment, he has quickly emerged as the club’s top scorer in both LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League. Following his impressive run of form, Mbappe made an intriguing confession about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Me and Cristiano Ronaldo speak frequently. He gives me a lot of advice…I’m very happy to equal his goals in the first season, we know what he represents for all of us… but the really important thing is to WIN trophies with Real Madrid,” stated Kylian Mbappe as reported Fabrizio Romano.

Kylian’s comments reflect the mentorship he has received from Cristiano Ronaldo, something the Portuguese legend had previously hinted at. The Portuguese star remarked that Mbappe did not yet know how to fully play as a striker and expressed his desire to guide him.

Kylian Mbappe ties Cristiano Ronaldo’s record at Real Madrid

With 33 goals across all competitions, Mbappe has now matched Cristiano’s scoring output from his first season at Real Madrid. However, the season is far from over, and Kylian Mbappe is well on track to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut campaign with Real Madrid. After reaching the milestone, he spoke with Real Madrid TV, saying: “It’s very special… to have the same number of goals as Cristiano is always good.”

Although Kylian’s season has been incredible, he has yet to prove his ability to appear in the final stages of the Champions League with Real Madrid. This does not detract from his achievements, but it does demonstrate the legacy that Cristiano left at the club.

What’s next for Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid?

After their win over CD Leganes, Real Madrid enters a crucial stretch with several key matches over the next two weeks. The first comes on April 1, when they face Real Sociedad in the second leg of the Copa del Rey. Although Real Madrid holds a narrow one-goal lead on aggregate, it is far from a comfortable margin, meaning there’s no room for complacency.

Then, Real Madrid will take on Valencia CF on April 5 in LaLiga, a match they can’t afford to drop. FC Barcelona currently leads the table, but with only a slim margin separating the two, every point matters.
