Real Madrid Triumphs in the Super League Battle

Real Madrid’s journey with the Super League is far from over. The club, alongside other European teams, had aimed to establish a new league to replace the UEFA Champions League, which they deemed outdated and less profitable. Despite UEFA successfully halting the initial plan, the dispute continues in court, with Real Madrid seeking compensation for the project’s premature cancellation. Recent court rulings have not favored UEFA or Spanish authorities, as noted in a statement from Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid CF is pleased that the Madrid Provincial Court has rejected the appeals filed by UEFA, the RFEF, and La Liga, confirming that UEFA seriously violated EU competition rules in the Super League case, abusing its dominant position according to the CJEU ruling. This decision paves the way for claiming significant damages suffered by the club. Real Madrid also states that it has engaged in numerous discussions with UEFA throughout 2025 to seek solutions but has failed to reach any commitments regarding transparent governance, financial viability, player health protection, and enhancing fan experiences, particularly through free and accessible broadcasting models worldwide, similar to what was seen during the FIFA Club World Cup. Consequently, the club announces it will continue to advocate for global football and its supporters, while also seeking compensation from UEFA for the substantial damages incurred,” the statement reads.
