Real Sociedad Triumphs in Thrilling Basque Derby Against Bilbao

This Saturday, La Liga delivered an exciting matchup in the Basque Country with the derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. Both teams had experienced lackluster starts to the season and needed a win to build momentum. After securing a victory the previous week, it was Sociedad that ultimately triumphed in a thrilling finish.

In a first half filled with action, Braiz Mendez put the home team ahead (1-0, 38th minute), but Gorka Guruzeta equalized just before halftime (1-1, 42nd minute). Upon returning from the break, the Txiki-Urdini regained the lead through Gonçalo Guedes (2-1, 47th minute). Late in the match, Robert Navarro appeared to give Bilbao a way back with another equalizer (2-2, 79th minute). However, Jon Gorrotxategi scored in the dying moments of the game (3-2, 90+4th minute) to secure a thrilling win for Sociedad. With this hard-fought victory against their rivals, Sociedad climbs to 13th place, while Bilbao remains in 10th.
